In the classroom

This spring term, we are studying a science topic about Evolution & Inheritance. We'll be finding out how living things change over time through passing features from parents to offspring, with variations allowing some to adapt better to their environment. We'll also learn how evidence such as fossils can tell us about how life on Earth has changed over time, and how they support Darwin's Theory of Evolution.

Elsewhere in the curriculum, this term we will continue to practise our times-tables on TT Rock Stars, our number bonds on Numbots, and will be studying multiplicative reasoning, shape, measure, fractions in maths. We will also be continuing to sharpen up our English skills with a fiction unit inspired by Beowulf

Previously, in the autumn term we began the school year with a science topic learning about the Properties of Materials. We were able to recognise how these various properties made materials suitable for different applications, and how some properties could be changed, for example by heating. This led onto some further learning about changing states of matter.

Towards Christmas, we learnt how to program using Scratch, and through completing weekly challenges we gradually built our skills and knowledge, working up to making our very own clicker games.
